Dr Jakob Richardson (MD) is an English trained family doctor who will be joining us on 11 March 2024. He completed his GP training in 2022 but had spent and continues to enjoy practicing Emergency Medicine at Gloucester Royal Hospital. The son of Canadian parents, he has been privileged enough to enjoy an early international educational experience in Europe and Asia. Upon returning to Canada he completed high school in Toronto at Upper Canada College where he got an entrance scholarship to Western University. It was there that he completed both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Microbiology and Immunology working at the prestigious Robarts Research Institute under Dr Alexandra Lucas (MD) where his thesis work started to elucidate the signalling mechanism of a viral protein being commercialised for heart disease treatment. It was at this time he chose to pursue a career in professional medicine and trained at St George’s Medical School in Grenada with on-site training in the United Kingdom. Whilst training he patented and continues to commercialise the world’s first one-handed syringe and is the founder of Medical Instrumentae Ltd.
